For adults aged between 40 and 74 who has not had a health check with a Doctor in the last five years, we provide a cardiovascular health check which involes a series of routine blood tests that will show your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type two diabetes.

These checks are availble to patients who are not already being treated for high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease and who have not previously had a stroke.

Please contact reception to make an appointment for your check.

Flu season is fast approaching and, as with everything else, it will be a little different this year. It is also more important than ever. The flu vaccine will not protect you against Covid-19 but it will make sure that you are protected against having both at the same time. It will also reduce the potential demand on hospitals and other care services, particularly as the initial symptoms can be similar.

We are booking now for some groups. Everyone will need an appoinment this year so we can maintain social distancing and make sure that we deliver the vaccinations as safely as possible. When you have an appointment please ensure that you arrive on time so that we can manage the number of people in the building.

Patients Over 65 Years Old

Please call us to book an appointment. We will be holding our first clinic on Saturday 12th of September and further clinics through the week.

Patients with chronic health problems (under 65 years old)

We advise a flu vaccine if you are over 65 years old or have diabetes, heart disease, lung disease or problems with your liver or kidneys. Additionally people taking medicines that weaken their immune system, such as methotrexate, should also have a vaccination. There is a full list at NHS Choices. We will start these on Saturday 19th of September.

School age Children

For children there is a nasal spray available. All children from age two up until school age will be offered a vaccination at the surgery. Older primary age children and year 7 willhave a vaccination at school. No needles required! Older children with asthma, diabetes or other reason for being at risk will also be offered the vaccination. We don't yet know when these will arrive so please keep checking.

Patients age 50-64

If you don't have a long term condition the government has advised that you will be eligable for a flu vaccination. This will be later in the year and we are still waiting for full detail of the timing and other arrangements.

Free urgent eyecare services now available at opticians

People across Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire can now access free NHS treatment for urgent eye care from their local optician.

The brand new service commissioned by the local NHS, means that high street opticians can offer free treatment for urgent eye conditions such as itchy and red eyes, scratched or swollen eyes or unexplained reduced vision.

Anyone, whatever age and whether registered with an optician or not, will be able to access treatment for any new or worsening eye conditions.

This is a temporary service set up as a result of concerns that many patients were not seeking treatment for eye conditions due to worries about exposing themselves to Covid19 by visiting A&E departments or their GP.

A full list of those opticians who are offering this new service is available at
