Coronovirus - Covid 19

PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THE PRACTICE IF YOU HAVE A HIGH TEMPERATURE, PERSISTANT COUGH OR A LOSS OF SENSE OF SMELL. PLEASE CALL 01793 692933 FIRST

Flu season is fast approaching and we now have adult vaccine in stock. We are booking now - you can book an appointment by calling 01793 692933. When you have an appointment please ensure that you arrive on time so that we can manage the number of people in the building.

We also have a walk-in clinic on Friday 21st October from 12.30 - 5.30pm. No appointment needed for that clinic.

The flu vaccine will not protect you against Covid-19 but it will make sure that you are protected against having both at the same time. It will also reduce the potential demand on hospitals and other care services, particularly as the initial symptoms can be similar.

Patients Over 50 Years Old

Please call us to book an appointment.

Patients with chronic health problems (under 50 years old)

We advise a flu vaccine if you are over 50 years old or have diabetes, heart disease, lung disease or problems with your liver or kidneys. Additionally people taking medicines that weaken their immune system, such as methotrexate, should also have a vaccination. Please call us to book an appointment.  There is a full list at NHS Choices

School age Children

For children there will be a nasal spray available, although stock of this has not arrived. All children from age two up until school age will be offered a vaccination at the surgery. Older primary age children and year 7 will have a vaccination at school. No needles required! Older children with asthma, diabetes or other reason for being at risk will also be offered the vaccination. Please call us for an appointment.

For adults aged between 40 and 74 who has not had a health check with a Doctor in the last five years, we provide a cardiovascular health check which involes a series of routine blood tests that will show your risk of developing heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and type two diabetes.

These checks are availble to patients who are not already being treated for high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease and who have not previously had a stroke.

Please contact reception to make an appointment for your check.

Anyone over 18 can now book directly through the National Booking System or by calling 119.

We are working with Great Western Hospital to deliver vaccinations. We will be doing this in order of priority which has been set nationally. There are nine groups.

Appointments with the Great Western Hospital will be available through the national booking system as above.

There is a helpful article from the BBC about the process.

Please do not contact the surgery about the vaccination - we don't have direct access to these appointments.. If we have your mobile number you will receive a text message invitation, although you do not have to wait for this. We use a company called MJOG to send these messages and they appear to come from the number 07903 593404.

If we do not have up to date details for you then we will not be able to get in touch. If you have move recently or changed phone number then please contact the surgery to update your details.

For general enquiries about the vaccine the Clinical Commissioning Group has a list of answers.
